    Extension to Paria

    Extension to Paria

There are many possibilities for excursions and relaxation on the Paria Peninsula; beautiful beaches, tree-covered mountains, outings to cacao plantations, or thermal hot springs. You can also visit a ranch which is carrying out agro-ecological experiments using non-traditional forms of energy.

It is also possible to visit a tourist development project involved in organic agriculture production and the conservation of the environment, working with the locals living there.

The delightful town of Carupano is located in the north of Sucre State between Araya and Paria peninsulas. Carupano is a very friendly town; it is an excellent base to make visits to Araya and Paria and the carnival colours in Carupano are probably the best in Venezuela. It was a very important place at the beginning of the 20th century when cacao and coffee were exported from its port. It was here in 1814 that Simon Bolivar, the liberator of Venezuela, announced a decree banning slavery. This is a perfect place to sample the historical riches on offer in Venezuela.
